Intro to Biblical Counseling
Biblical counseling begins with a fundamental question: Where do we turn when people are struggling with life, sin, suffering, and change? This three-credit-hour course introduces students to personal ministry based on biblical sufficiency, examining the biblical foundation, definition, and goals of biblical counseling.
Students will consider how a biblical approach understands the human person and the problems people face, while also examining how biblical counseling differs from humanistic, psychologically based systems and evangelical integrationist approaches. The course also explores the qualities needed by those who provide soul care, recognizing that effective ministry requires more than knowing the right information. BCMW’s approach to education seeks to develop the whole person through solid content, Christlike character, practical relationship skills, and a commitment to walking relationally alongside others. This course provides a foundation for further study and ministry in biblical counseling.
