Biblical Counseling: What Is It?
What does it mean to care for people biblically? BCMW’s Church Leadership Training (CLT) Module 1 establishes the foundation for biblical counseling by defining a model of personal ministry based on biblical sufficiency and exploring how people grow and change.
Participants will consider what makes biblical counseling truly biblical, how Scripture defines the heart and its transformation, and how God’s Word speaks to the realities of everyday life.
The module also introduces biblical frameworks to help counselors understand both the struggles people face and the hope of gospel-centered change.
Module 1 invites church leaders to see personal discipleship as a ministry of the local church, grounded in the authority of Scripture and aimed at helping people grow in Christ-likeness.
Who is this for?
Module 1 is designed for pastors, elders, lay leaders, and members who want to understand the biblical foundation of personal ministry. It serves as the starting point for BCMW’s four-module CLT track.
What should you expect?
Expect to dig into what makes counseling biblical, how people change, and how Scripture describes the heart, its struggles, and its transformation. The module connects theological foundations with the everyday work of helping people grow.
