Biblical Counseling: How Do You Do It?
Knowing that Scripture is sufficient is one thing, but knowing how to lovingly and wisely bring that truth to another person is another. BCMW’s Church Leadership Training (CLT) Module 2 moves from the foundations of biblical counseling into the practical work of doing it.
Participants will learn a seven-element counseling process that includes building a relationship, gathering facts, providing biblical hope, defining problems biblically, teaching truth, providing accountability, and planning ongoing ministry. Through case studies and practical exercises, the module explores how to navigate counseling conversations from the first meeting through subsequent sessions.
This module also considers the practical questions of who should counsel, when and where counseling should happen, and how church leaders can approach the work thoughtfully. The goal of this module, as with all BCMW training, is not simply for participants to know a process, but to learn how to walk wisely and compassionately alongside people as they pursue biblical change.
Who is this for?
Module 2 is for church leaders & members who want to move from understanding the foundations of biblical counseling to actually practicing it. It builds directly on Module 1 and is designed to develop practical counseling skills.
What should you expect?
You’ll work through a seven-element biblical counseling process, from building a relationship and gathering facts to providing hope, teaching truth, and planning ongoing ministry. Case studies give you opportunities to think through how those elements work in real counseling situations.
